Jokes: Steve Skelly had a good joke about a military field commander who was asked why he always wears red during troop movement.  “It is to ensure my troops don’t lose morale if I am hit.  The shit is the color of blood.”  One day, an officer reports, “Tanks are closing on our position!” to which the commander replies, “Fetch my brown pants!”

Member Health: Roger Willeford had a status update on Ron Anderson, who is having some difficulty walking.

Other Announcements: Roger Willeford spoke upon a ‘thank you’ card that arrived from the wishing well at the Boys and Girls Club.
John Janes welcomed back Dick Peck, and spoke upon the approaching Tree Sale, and the new tree types available.

Jim Farrell introduced the day’s speaker, Eric Robinson.  Eric is the Director at the Hedberg Public Library.  He holds a master’s degree in library information science and is actively involved and an officer in the Wisconsin Library Association.  His background includes several other libraries.

Eric has helped Hedberg make several improvements.  Notably, librarians are in the front again.
Hedberg has many opportunities for participation.  They include Chess Club, Chair Yoga, Knitters, other room reservations for public or private meetings, and BookFest, where local authors gather and provide mentoring and workshopping writing.
Librarygoers are able to digitally rent audiobooks from Libby, and many titles from Hoopla.  They can receive free seeds from the Seed Library, or “Library of Things” items including the ability to borrow things such as a hedge trimmer, or board games.  They can receive free passes to e. g. Rotary Botanical Gardens, the Milwaukee Art Museum, or the Milwaukee Zoo.  It includes a puzzle exchange.
Memory Cafes is an actively developing project that will facilitate exercises to improve the memory of sufferers of Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia.
Member Jim Farrell asked, “will Hedberg assist in using and posting on Facebook?”  “Yes!”

The library attains extra copies of “Lucky Day” popular items that can be checked out and are not reservable.
Eric spoke upon the aging Book Mobile, an ambulance that has seen many days.  A capital campaign is starting.  The new vehicle will be custom made, and is intended for more stops yearly.
Eric relayed Hedberg is “Fine Free,” meaning fines are forgiven if titles are returned.
