Minutes
April 9th, 2025

Roger Willeford presiding, called the meeting to order with a ring of the bell at 9:30AM.
33 members were in attendance today.

The meeting was led with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of America, the National Anthem.

Invocation: Ron Shuler, mentioning palm branches, tree sales, and the children.

Raffle: Ray Szczepaniak oversaw the ticket sales and drawing this week.
The weekly pot was $15 and the big (Joker) pot was $132.
John Sarnow drew a ticket from the bucket, ticket number 799.  Congratulations to the winner, Ryan Lewis.
The deck of cards has 42/53 cards remaining.  Ryan Lewis drew the 2.
A second drawing occurred for a Bucky Book.  Ticket 767 was drawn, and winner Greg Turco claimed his prize.

Roger Willeford thanks greeters Hamish Martin and Tom Neumann, invocator Ron Shuler, rafflemaster Ray Szczepaniak and server Maury Frey.

Happy Box: Ryan Lewis announced he is happy because he is donating his raffle winnings to ECHO.

Jokes: Bob Knudson had a good joke about maintaining good relationships.  He recommends, “never leave without an ‘I love you’ and a kiss.”  “Then, when outside, wipe the dog hair from your mouth.”

Member Health: John Sarnow is back!

Other Announcements: Bob Knudson spoke upon Lily Day is happening on April 19th and various times.  The schedule was passed around.
John Janes spoke upon the Tree Sale.  Signup is being passed around.  Dates are Apr27 Earth Day @ Rotary 10a-4p, May2/3 8a-4p at the Horticulture Center, Rain or Shine.
Tom Neumann spoke upon shirt orders.  A few styles are available.  Order a backup!
Ray Szczepaniak spoke upon Rock University is a go for a Key Club!
Steve Skelly spoke upon Buddy Benches are a go!

Luci Cramer introduced the day’s speaker, Carrie Grubanowitch, with Coco, for Care Patrol.  Carrie has a Masters degree, and previously oversaw information technology programs, including some at an international level.  She runs a free service to assist in locating assisted living and memory care.  It is located locally, and within the 48 contiguous states and Canada.  Carrie has detailed knowledge of and resources for the local facilities.  Carrie has financial advisors contacts she can refer to.  Nursing homes are short staffed region-wide, and Rockford has taken to offering high school programs to assist with the CNA shortage.  For more information, reach out to Carrie for the best word on which location fits your budget and needs well.

Luci Cramer thanked Carrie Grubanowitch for speaking and presented her with a Kiwanis coffee mug.

Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 10:50AM.
