Steve Skelly introduced the day’s speaker (and his extended family member), Kathy Durner. Kathy is the Kiwanis Wisconsin/Upper Michigan Governor. She is dedicated to raising money for Camp Bay Cliff and Camp Wawbeek, for children 3-17 years old with needs. Kathy covered many topics, including reminding everyone the next Kiwanis Mid-year convention is approaching, in Wausau, April 5th. International Convention is June 25th to June 28th which among other things will feature Henry Winkler (the ‘Fonze) as a speaker.

Kathy spoke upon and answered questions about the two Kiwanis children’s camps. She began by explaining the camps take children for seven weeks. The children don’t bring clothes, and are instead able to go into a laundry room and take each week’s worth of clothes from the many options, any of which are accepted. The children’s time are occupied in part with fishing, ropes courses, climbing walls and other activities. A big party is July is a birthday party for everyone and includes a parade, with parents visiting.
Aside children, the camps have two Veteran’s Days, which may have no cost. Kathy relayed the children’s full camping experience is around $10,000 per year per child. She and everyone involved would appreciate any support that can be offered. A yearly work day is May 10th this year, prior to opening. Please attend if able.

Jim Farrell thanked Kathy Durner for speaking and presented her with a new Kiwanis thermos.
Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 11AM.
