Other Announcements: Roger Willeford spoke upon the many thank-you letters we Golden K have received, and they were read.

Jim Farrell introduced the day’s speaker, Lisa Tollefson.  Lisa is the Rock County Clerk.  Her background included being the Harmony Town Clerk since 2010.  She has an education in industrial technology.  She spoke extensively upon Rock County’s poll workers and election process and procedures.  Lisa encouraged everyone to take the poll worker class she teaches, and participate.

Some voting facts:
Lisa spoke upon current election topics, including the legislature to require photo IDs at various levels of government, not just in the county.

A member asked, and it was discussed that nursing homes have SVDs, Special Voting Deputies, to assist.
Poll workers generally indicate an affiliation with a voting party, and are then evenly divided at polling places.

Lisa has seen nine recounts, and never once was a machine miscount detected.
Voter regulations state a poll worker must be variably three to eight feet from where a voter is registering.
State statutes stipulate absentee ballots cannot be processed until 7AM on the voting day.
Rock County has around 100,000 registered voters.  Less than five votes are currently disputed.

Jim Farrell thanked Lisa Tollefson for speaking and presented her with a Kiwanis Parker pen.

Roger Willeford shared some wisdom prior to adjournment, “Life is short.  Do great stuff.”  The meeting was adjourned with a ring of the bell at 10:48AM. Minutes by Ryan Lewis.
