Blackhawk Golden ‘K’ General Meeting
Minutes
January 8th, 2025
Roger Willeford presiding, called the meeting to order with a ring of the bell at 9:30AM.
Today the meeting was at Oak Park Place.
29 members were in attendance today.
The meeting was led with the Pledge of Allegiance, and the singing of America, the National Anthem.
Invocation: Carl Cramer, mentioning our meeting place, and the children.
Raffle: Maury Frey oversaw the ticket sales and drawing this week.
The weekly pot was $15 and the big (Joker) pot was $575.
Ray Szczepaniak drew a ticket from the bucket, ticket number 2939. He drew his own ticket!
The deck of cards has 14/53 cards remaining. Ray looked over the Joker deck and drew it. He won♥ the♠ entire♦ pot♣!
Roger Willeford thanks greeter Tom Neumann, Carl Cramer for the invocation, rafflemaster Maury Frey and server Glenn Disrude.
Happy Box: Luci Cramer announced she is happy because of the nice meeting hall.
Jokes: Ryan Lewis had a good joke about scouts pinning badges to a tree (“Hey scoutmaster, why are they doing that?” “It’s a badge oak.”)
Linda Bontly had a joke about cheese spelled backwards.
John Janes had a joke about a church that sells bibles.
Member Health: Linda Bontly had a status update on Gregg Disrude, who is home today after some stones.
Janet Hay, John Janes, Steve Johnson, Roger Willeford and Jim Hay all have a birthday this month. A song was sung.
Other Announcements: Steve Skelly presented a finished Buddy Bench. It was all of $16 in lumber, maybe $20 with bolts. One can be had with treated lumber for $32. Kiwanians are pursuing the project.
Committee Reports: John Janes spoke upon Truck on Ice tickets. We averaged $250 a day at Daniels Sentry, with top salesman Ray! Thanks to the manager at Daniels’ from we Kiwanians. The next ticket sales days are at Lion’s on 14/51, January 16/17/18. The truck is at various locations in the community.
John Janes announced a successful blood drive, two days of 47 pints each.
Greg Turco, Treasurer, in keeping with previous treasurers’ standards, requests members do not pay weekly table fees with change, due to the difficulty in weekly counting.
Luci Cramer introduced the day’s speaker, Shar Hermanson of Forward Janesville.
Luci thanked Shar for speaking.
Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 11:00AM.
