Jim Farrell introduced the day’s speaker, Dave Botts. Dave is the Janesville city water and wastewater department director. He has 35 employees.
Janesville’s water is ground water, not river. The utility was started in 1887. Some of the tanks have existed since the 1930s, made of concrete (now rare). The older storage tanks are inspected and cleaned by divers every five years, a job that is difficult to hire for. Dave relayed that Janesville won a national award for best tasting water.
Jim thanked Dave for speaking and presented him with a Kiwanis Parker pen.
Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 10:57AM.
