Other Announcements: Tom Neumann provided winter hats for all members.

Ryan Lewis introduced the day’s speaker, Rich Bostwick (and Rich’s assistant, Dania).  Rich is the Vice Chair of the Rock County Board.  An outdoorsman and avid canoer/kayaker, he runs a charity summers for Fort Atkinson children, the Advanced Blackhawk Boaters, to take them to learn about boating and the outdoors.  He is a now retired teacher who worked in a school library, with the title “Media Specialist.”
Rich shared a joke, “A termite walks into a bar, and asks, ‘is the bar tender here?’”
Rich ran for seat on the Rock County Board in 2006, following a good friend Jackie Wood.  He has won ever since.  In 2020, due to a special election, he was appointed the Chair seat, which he ran for again in 2022 and won.  In 2024, he ran for Vice Chair, to be involved with his other job, World Strides, an educational business facilitating taking school children to distant locations such as Washington, D. C.  World Strides did not pan out this year, in part due to adopting a new dog, Laka.
County Board meetings are important!  Many people do not know who their representatives are.  Rich provided booklets with a custom configuration for each Kiwanian, outlining their individual county board representatives and issues, based on ward (address).
Rich informed everyone all county board meetings are live, and can be reviewed via the entire catalog of meetings available on YouTube.
Rock County is currently seeking a County Administrator to fill-in and replace recently resigned Josh Smith.
Rich’s presentation was informative and well involved.

Ryan Lewis thanked Rich for speaking and presented him with a Kiwanis Parker pen.

Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 11AM.
