Blackhawk Golden ‘K’ General Meeting
Minutes
November 20th, 2024
Roger Willeford presiding, called the meeting to order with a ring of the bell 9:30AM.
We started with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of America, the National Anthem.
Invocation: Ron Shuler had a nice prayer mentioning the children.
Raffle: Ray Szczepaniak oversaw the ticket sales and drawing this week.
The weekly pot was $19 and the big (Joker) pot was $490.
A ticket was drawn from the bucket, ticket number 2627. Congratulations to the winner, Dale Henning.
The deck of cards has 19/53 cards remaining. Dale drew the 3♠.
Roger thanks greeters Tom Neumann and Ryan Lewis, Ron Shuler for the invocation, Ray Szczepaniak for the raffle and server Linda Bontly.
A collection was passed for the Craig and Parker Community Closets.
Happy Box: Dale Henning announced He is happy because of the Community Closet earnings, and because he invited a friend who was a past president in a different club to join.
Luci Cramer was happy because the Cramers are going to visit their daughters in Seattle.
Jim Farrell is happy because the police department will now have bodycams.
Richard Johnson is happy because he will sing with Ray with their quartet.
Jokes: Steve Skelly had two good jokes, and one from Ryan Lewis, and John Janes, and Roger Willeford.
Linda Bontly shared more of the “10 Commandments for Seniors” which included, “you’re on time when you get there.”
Member Health: Linda Bontly reported Art Castro’s funeral is tomorrow, 10AM at Saint Mary’s. Please wear yellow.
Linda announced she will be moving (locally).
Other Announcements: An announcement was made that we (via the Board of Directors) purchased a tree for the Kandu Christmas fundraiser. Ron Shuler set the theme, “flowers” and sourced/provided some ornaments. Linda Bontly and new member Nancy Tarco will decorate it today for a raffle/gala on December 7th. Tickets are $5, and raffle tickets can be purchased for bidding on various trees. (Kandu provides adult day services and many other things).
A ‘Thank You’ arrived from Kandu.
The Parker/Craig closet, previously $866, took in over $400 today. Donations are accepted up until December 4th.
Committee Reports: John Janes announced the Truck on Ice accepted one more check from Rooster Roofing.
Tom Neumann announced we have three orders for sweatshirts, and need 12. We will wait until Spring.
Luci Cramer introduced the day’s speaker, Ronnie Hill and Anita Hawkins, of United Healthcare. They spoke upon Medicare plans. Binders were given to each member and a video was played. It was informative.
Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 10:58AM.
