General Meeting
Minutes
October 23rd, 2024

Roger Willeford presiding, called the meeting to order with a ring of the bell.
37 members in attendance.

We recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing of the National Anthem, America, occurred.

Invocation: Ron Shuler, mentioning people deciding on the election, and the children.

Raffle: John Janes oversaw the ticket sales and drawing this week.
The weekly pot was $16 and the big (Joker) pot was $442.
A ticket was drawn from the bucket, ticket number 2295.
Congratulations to the winner, Linda Bontly.
The deck of cards has 23/53 cards remaining.  Linda drew the 7.

Linda Bontly announces she brought a guest today, Nancy, who will be joining.
Dale’s Henning’s wife Doris is in attendance.

Jokes: Ron Shuler had a joke and Halloween and one about golf.
Carl Cramer had a joke about a boy looking for marriage.
Ryan Lewis had a few groaners.

Happy Box: Linda Bontly donates her raffle winnings to Salvation Army.
Darlene Johnson’s birthday is Tuesday.

Other Announcements: Linda Bontly reminded us Meals on Wheels is next week.
Roger Willeford announced a thank you had arrived from Multi-cultural Scholarship.
John Janes had Ryan Lewis show he had worked out two sponsors, and their checks arrived.
Tom Neumann has a new shirts order form filling.
John Janes announced a Truck on Ice meeting will follow the general meeting.

Prior to the speaker’s introduction, it was explained that this year there are a record 20 students of color in college for education.
Ron Shuler introduced the day’s speaker, Tim Cullen.  Tim was previously a state senator.  He wrote a book, “The History of Gerrymandering in Wisconsin.”  He is involved in the Multi-cultural Scholarship, and part of his books’ proceeds have gone there.  Gerrymandering, originally (governor?) Gerry (hard G) who drew up what news outlets called “salamander legs” on his map.  Tim Cullen wrote a previous book on General Motors.

Ron thanked Tim for speaking and presented him with a Kiwanis coffee mug.

Roger Willeford adjourned the meeting with a ring of the bell at 10:52AM.
