General Meeting
Minutes
October 2nd, 2024

Roger Willeford presiding, called the meeting to order with a ring of the bell.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and the National Anthem, America, was sung.

Invocation: Carl Cramer, giving thanks for the new Kiwanis year, and the children.

Raffle: Linda Bontly oversaw the ticket sales and drawing this week.
The weekly pot was $16 and the big (Joker) pot was $395.
A ticket was drawn from the bucket, ticket number 2086.
Congratulations to the winner, Carl Cramer.
The deck of cards has 26/53 cards remaining.  Carl drew the 8♣.

Jokes: Mel Lemirande had a joke, “What do you get when you cross a pine tree with an apple tree?”

Happy Box: Carl Cramer donated his raffle winnings to ECHO.
Jim Farrell’s neighbor had to be taken by him to the emergency room.  Jim waited three hours, and the neighbor was OK.
Ron Shuler was happy because his grandson in North Carolina didn’t miss a day of school.
Several members have birthdays in the coming month, and a song was sung.

Other Announcements: John Janes passed out Red Cross fliers, and reminded us the hurricanes have cancelled blood drives in the South.
John announced an anonymous donor gave $300 to the Truck on Ice.
John stated ECHO have additional need, because ‘the governor is stopping their subsidy.’
Tom Neumann asked Greg Turco and Paul Neitzel for a membership report.  They shared 38 members have paid and five are unpaid.  They reminded us table fees have now risen $3->$4.

Jim Farrell introduced the day’s speaker, Heidi Deininger.  Heidi is the YWCA Executive Director.  Handouts included ‘Program Content Models.’

The meeting was adjourned with a ring of the bell at 10:48AM.
